Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of more than 15 books. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news site and a television host author, author and philanthropist. Originating from Greece she moved to England at the age of sixteen and then completed her studies at Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. When she was 21, she became the president of the famed debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. After graduation she made her name as columnist in the conservative syndicated media and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later she created an online voice portal which provided critical views on the political scenario. The fame of her name helped by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to share their opinions on news, politics, and other topics. Arianna was famous when she decided to become an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election to replace the Governor Davis. She was also involved in an initiative in Detroit that promoted fuel-efficient automobiles. She was named The Most influential women in media in 2009 by Forbes in 2009, gaining the 12th place in that list. That same year Guardian named her on the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her the president of their media company and also included several the other AOL products like Engadget AOL Music Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos who was a journalist and management consultant. She was extremely close to her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother that has shaped her. She displayed leadership qualities throughout her childhood. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. She enrolled in Cambridge Union, the Cambridge Union college debate society throughout her college years in which she became the first woman to be elected the president. In 1972, she earned an honorary degree in Economics. In the years following her graduation, she worked as an editor of the critic's column and a television host. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also notable. She started writing books with his guidance in editing.
