April Ross
April Ross is only one of only a handful of beach volleyball players to have won medals at least twice in an Olympics. In Tokyo during the next few days, she'll be aiming to win her third gold medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross wants to achieve more than just her first Olympic medal. In fact, at 39 this may be her last opportunity to do so. Her confidence is high, however. As per her biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. She has won numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. From 2007 until 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. They went on to compete for the bronze beach volleyball medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Ross was a student athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played during high school, and even before hitting the beach professionally. She had a great run during her time in the NCAA tournament. The Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four with her help. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss during her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat her place as an All-American. In her last two seasons with the Trojans' program the team was led to victories by winning the national title in consecutive years. She had established her place as a legend having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. This meant that Ross continues to be close to her parent who died. And Margie is an ongoing source of inspiration to her on the beach and in the world of.
